1 cup of butter
½ cup chopped onions
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 cup milk
½ cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cans of Lodi Fancy Sweet Peas, drained
1 can french fried onion rings, drained
1. Heat oven to 350°F/180°C. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cook for 2 minutes or until onions are tender.
2. Stir in flour, salt, pepper; cook stirring constantly, 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk and cream; cook stirring constantly 4 to 5 minutes or until thickened.
3. Stir in cheese until melted and smooth.
4. Add peas; stir gently to combine. Spoon mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish.
5. Bake for 20 minutes. Top with french fried onions; bake an additional 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
